On Friday 14 June 2002 Cap'n Billy, our modern-day Jason, assembled his intrepid Argonauts for another epic voyage across the ocean to an adventure of historic proportions: the Dudley Open 2002. Given that the Championship was even bigger and better than before, the organising committee's concern was that the event would attract undue media attention and spoil the enjoyment for the players. |
The General's battle plan was simple yet ingenious: Assemble the troops from across the nation to avoid unwanted attention from gutter press paparazzi. But despite all his carefully laid plans, he hadn't reckoned with one very resourceful hack: the Dudley 2001 Champ "Happy Gilmour" sadly had to pull out of this year's tournament due to injury, but was clever enough to offset his financial loss and emotional trauma by striking an exclusive deal with Picardy Media Group to film the whole event*.
And so it is, dear readers, that you can now follow the fortunes of your golfing heroes even more closely on our web page. This year we not only have superb action shots of one of the most hard-fought sporting tournaments on the amateur circuit, but a special section on Swing Analysis, in which you can see that the incredible diversity of swings that players drew upon to contest the trophy and judge for yourself the quality and style that is byword for this major tournament.
